| DOG FOUND AT
PILOT EXIT This dog has been residing in the culvert under the eastbound Pilot Peak exit off Interstate 80 (approx. 10 miles west of West Wendover, NV). He is an intact male, possibly hound, hound/lab mix, golden in color, and is wearing a brown leather collar with the clasp of a busted leash or tether attached to the collar. He is injured on the left rear leg, hip, and pelvic area so he may have fell or jumped out of the back of a pickup or was hit by a vehicle. The dog was reported to have been first spotted near the culvert as much as two weeks ago by one witness. A local rescuer heard about the dog on Sunday, May 30th, discovered it in the culvert, and began attempts to coax the dog out. Unfortunately, the dog, growling - visibly shaking and scared - would move further into the culvert. Friday night, June 4th, the dog finally decided to come out of the culvert to accept help after being encouraged with daily visits and food /water from the rescuer. The dog was transported to Tooele Veterinary Clinic, in Tooele, Utah, to find out the extent of his injuries and receive veterinary care. Now, hopefully the owner of the dog will be able to be located. If this is your dog, or if anyone has any information that would help this dog find his way home, please call Deeanna at The Wendover Times at 435-665-2563 or 702-498-3068 (cell) or email TWT@wirelessbeehive.com UPDATE - DOG'S OWNER FOUND!!! |

| Charlie Goes
Home The dog that had been rescued after residing in a culvert at the Pilot Exit for two weeks, has been picked up by his owner, who said he was very happy to see his dog, Charlie, again. John Pendergrass was moving from California to the Pilot Peak area, so Charlie had no idea where he was, when he escaped out of his metal transport cage in the back of the pickup when his owner pulled off and stopped at the exit to check his load. Pendergrass said he didn’t realize his dog was missing until about 20 miles later and that he’d been back to the exit three times to try to find Charlie with no luck. After finally coming out of the culvert, Charlie spent the weekend at the Tooele Veterinary Clinic for observation and treatment with an anti-inflammatory drug and antibiotics. He had severe swelling in his abdominal area, and his left rear leg and hip was injured. Due to the extent of his injuries, Dr. Joe Roundy said that the dog had most likely been hit by a vehicle, but that he was recovering well. On Monday, the swelling had gone down considerably and Charlie returned to Wendover. Then on Tuesday evening, Pendergrass claimed his dog after a neighbor of his saw and told him about the story of the dog in previous week’s issue of The Wendover Times. Charlie appeared thrilled to see his owner and happy to go home. |
