Montello Days

Montello, Nevada

1904 - 2008

On Saturday and Sunday, August 16th and 17th, the town of Montello celebrated “Montello Days” with a parade and a number of activities spanning both days. The parade started at 9:30 Saturday morning followed by games for adults and kids starting at 11am. The games included horseshoe teams, dart teams and a walking poker run. There was a potluck dinner at the community center at 4pm and a street dance starting at 8pm.

On Sunday there was a Montello breakfast from 8am to 10am followed by a surprise raffle and a live bingo game.

Montello, located 55 miles northwest of Wendover, began in 1904 when the Southern Pacific Railroad built a train stop and railroad maintenance center there. The town started with 40 residents, which was mostly the railroad maintenance crew. The two day celebration of the historic town was open to the public.
