Ascent will build city hall at $7.3 mil Tuesday night, the West Wendover City Council voted to award the bid to Ascent Construction from Centerville, Utah, to build the new city hall complex. The bid was for $7,316,000. It includes the roof and the road and the parking lot, but it does not include any landscaping, which the City can do in-house or re-bid next year. Yesterday, West Wendover City Manager Chris Melville said, “We were looking at $6.6 to $6.8 million in April for the project. So it was close to our budget, although our range was up to $7.5 million, with all of our funding, if needed. Anyway, I think we are all happy that we can now proceed with the project and have a new city hall open next year.” Melville also said that the USDA has approved the bid from Ascent Construction since the council meeting on Tuesday. Ascent expects to mobilize their equipment to the city hall site starting July 1st. They are estimating 340 calendar days of construction to complete the job. |
